On April 25 and 26, 2025, the conference on the digitalization of the Kurdish language will take place at the Kulturrathaus Dresden – organized by our cooperation partner, the German-Kurdish Forum (DKF e.V.).

At the heart of the conference lies a central challenge:
How can the Kurdish language – in all its dialects – be made more visible, accessible, and scientifically advanced in the digital age?

Together with linguists, developers, educators, and representatives of the diaspora, we will discuss standards, digital tools, AI models, didactics, and the role of language in a globalized world.

Because the Kurdish language is not only a cultural heritage – it is a key to identity, education, and social participation.
Yet decades of political suppression, lack of institutional support, and insufficient technical infrastructure have led to its continued invisibility in digital spaces.

This conference sends a clear message: Together, we are shaping a digital future for Kurmancî, Sorani, and other dialects – open, scholarly, and forward-looking.

As part of the conference, we also presented our work on the International Kurdish University Germany (IKHS.DE) – a place where the Kurdish language is anchored in teaching and research. A place that not only preserves the language, but reimagines it – digitally, academically, and across disciplines.
